Case Study

A medium-sized aircraft manufacturer is planning the relaunch of a successful short-haul aircraft in turboprop and jet variants. Existing structures are to be retained as far as possible, but upgraded with modern materials, components, equipment and parts in the best possible way. Existing structures in the supply chain are specialized and optimized for the maintenance of the current fleet.

The experts from CRAB Analytics designed a supply chain organization for this customer in a case study. Particular attention was paid to the requirements in the two phases of design and subsequent series production. In addition, the question of how small but agile groups can be transformed from one phase to the other without losing talent.

The plan to install supply chain project managers during the design phase to bridge the gap between the supply chain and development partners and internal customers should be emphasized. These project managers should then act as process managers in the second phase (series production), taking over the industrialization and process monitoring of the supply chain.
